What We Do
GCIU is passionate about creating a difference in the lives of girls through interventions that address factors causing the increasing school dropout rate, as well as offering a livelihood to dropouts — especially teenage mothers.
Education Programme
Promoting education of vulnerable girls on the verge of dropping out. In 2022, we set up PRAINET ACADEMY — offering free education to children of teenage mothers, single mothers, orphans and the needy in Namalere-Kabaganda.
We provide scholastic materials, meals and use the approved National Curriculum. The school currently hosts 100 students from Nursery to Primary level, with the first PLE candidates sitting in 2026.
Livelihoods
Economic empowerment for dropouts, teenage mothers and single mothers through practical skills development — enabling them to provide for their children and build independent futures.
Reproductive Health Rights
Delivering age-appropriate SRHR services and reproductive health talks to partner schools for both boys and girls. We train beneficiaries in making reusable sanitary towels to promote personal health and reduce school absenteeism.
Our community outreach programme "No to Early Sex" educates young people on bodily changes, vulnerabilities to abuse, and the right to education.
